  • We didn’t know we needed reservation but they were nice enough to let us in. Really nice unagi don and sides.

  • I was able to walk in without a reservation on a Saturday around 7pm. The Hitsumabushi set was good, though the unagi itself was on the thinner side. The outside was cooked beautifully, with balanced char and sweetness, but it was missing the rich oiliness of a fattier unagi, which would have added more depth. I also got the deep fried burdocks but it was under-seasoned. The real highlight of the meal tho was the sansho powder (山椒). It was incredibly fresh, with a vibrant, refreshing aroma and mild tingling spiciness that completely elevated the dish. I couldn’t help but ask if they sell it, and to my surprise, they do! I picked up a fresh bottle on my way out. While this may not have been the most perfect unagi I’ve had, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I’d definitely come back for a simple unagi bowl with as much sansho as possible

  • A higher-end, more elaborate restaurant dedicated solely to unagi/eels. The food quality is top-notch, rice is cooked to perfection, the unagi is well seasoned and has a perfect, crispy skin as well as some smoky flavour from grilling on charcoal. All the side dishes as well as desserts are nice. Overall incredible quality all around. The restaurant itself is spacious and cozy, very clean and fitting for a more expensive establishment. However, I do find the price very steep, especially considering this is Japan. It might not seem like it, but this is definitely a place that you go to splurge on a meal.

  • We decided to try our luck coming early for a Unagi lunch and was lucky to not have to wait long, we were given the counter seats and ordered the Hitsumabushi set and a Mino Gold grill, I thought it was fantastic they catered to so many sizes making it suitable for children, the service was great and additionally English menus and instructions for visitors to follow. The Unagi was really good, fresh and well flavored, crisp on the outside with a decent char but moist and tasty inside. The rice and other accompaniment went really well with the dish. This was in addition to the instruction on how to savor the Unagi in different ways. Highly recommended

  • Visited Soba Douraku in Teshikaga. I arrived a little after 1pm and there was a short line, but I was seated in about 10 minutes. I ordered the Kashiwa Soba and Inakibi Rice. The broth of the soba had a rich, comforting flavor, with tender chicken adding great depth. The soba noodles were firm with a nice texture, making it an enjoyable bowl to the last sip. The inakibi rice was simple yet full of natural taste, pairing perfectly with the soba. A cozy local spot that’s worth the wait — highly recommended if you’re visiting Teshikaga.

  • This was my first time trying Hitsumabushi style unagi, and it was very good. I love unagi, so I wanted to find a restaurant where I could spend a little more for a nice dinner, and I’m so glad we chose this place. Eating the eel in different ways was interesting, and it was so flavourful no matter how you had it. The top side was perfectly crunchy so good! They also served a salad at the beginning, I’m not sure if it was meant to be a palate cleanser, but it wasn’t very flavourful. It looks like they’re known for their eel liver as well, though it was sold out when we went. We went pretty close to their closing hours. But they did have an eel pâté, which was really good with some bread. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for great unagi!

  • A truly 'Saiko' (best) dining experience! We had the Hitsumabushi, and it was absolutely 'Oishii' from the first bite to the last. The unagi is prepared with the traditional 'Sumiyaki' (charcoal-grilled) method, giving it a perfect smoky aroma and a delicate crunch on the outside while remaining incredibly tender inside. Following the three-step ritual of Hitsumabushi—especially finishing it as 'Ochazuke' with their rich dashi—was a culinary highlight of our Tokyo trip. The craftsmanship of the 'Shokunin' (chef) is evident in every detail. If you are looking for authentic unagi in Kanda, this is a must-visit. Gochisousama-deshita!
